ACASTER - Lillian (Lil) May Acaster of Coronation passed away at the Coronation Health Care Centre on Sunday, February 1, 2004 at the age of 64.
Lil was born in Rabbit Lake, Saskatchewan. She took her education at Armadale and Rabbit Lake School. After graduating Lil worked at a variety of different jobs.
Lil met and married Gerry Acaster on November 4, 1960 and resided in North Battleford, Saskatchewan where they had three children.
They moved to Rabbit Lake in 1968 where they owned and operated a garage. In 1974 they moved to Coronation, Alberta.
Lil worked in Coronation as a chamber maid and later managed the Coronation Motor Inn for seven years.
She then worked at the Bakery for Hall’s Convenience Store.
Lil loved baking, discing, curling, camping and playing bingo.
She loved to spend time with her friends, family and five grandchildren.
Lil was predeceased by her parents Cliff and Esther Lamb.
She is survived by her loving husband of 43 years, Gerry of Coronation; children Lynn Acaster (Bob Scott) of Airdrie, Melvin Acaster of Coronation, and Shelley (Cliff) Brigley of Coronation; her five grandchildren Grant, Candice, Chad, Garrett and Kaylee; three brothers Doug (Doreen) Lamb of Rabbit Lake, Saskatchewan, Wilbert Lamb of North Battleford, Saskatchewan. and Bob (Jeanette) Lamb of Rabbit Lake, Saskatchewan; sisters and brothers-in-law Shirley (Ken) Meena of Maymont, Saskatchewan, Hazel (Doug) Illingworth of North Battleford, Saskatchewan, Cliff (Victoria) Acaster of Coronation, Edith Pruden of Kelowna, B.C., Wayne (Vicki) Acaster of Ruddell, Saskatchewan, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held at Trinity United Church on Friday, February 6, 2004 with Rev. Mervyn Penfound officiating.
Organist Linda Osetsky played for the congregational hymns, “Amazing Grace” and “Just a Closer Walk With Thee”.
Linda Lamb and Shirley Meena gave a loving tribute of Lil’s life.
All of Lil’s family and friends served as honourary pallbearers. Interment will take place at a later date.
Following the service family and friends gathered in the Lower Hall of Trinity United Church for a time of fellowship and light refreshments prepared by the UCW.
If family and friends desire memorial donations may be made to the Alberta Diabetes Association or to a charity of the donor’s choice and would be appreciated by the family.
