BULLICK - Randy (Randall Patrick) - son, brother, father, friend, creator, musician, poet, artist and more. Randy Bullick died in Kamloops, British Columbia on September 30, 2003, with friends Kelly Thaler and Michael Brooks by his side.
Randy was always larger than life, filled with boundless passion and talent and never without a new project.
He set his own boundaries, pursued his own enterprises and resolutely pushed them to the limits.
He was born in Edmonton in July, 1960 and raised in Forest Heights in southeast Calgary.
Precarious and fearless, his youth was a series of adventures, and sometimes misadventures, in and around Forest Lawn, Caroline, the Rockies and his maternal grandparents’ farm near Magrath, Alberta.
In 1986, Randy married Shandra Hofmeister of Germany; their first daughter Lexi was born in June, 1987. Their second daughter Arielle was born three years later.
Fatherhood was a great source of pride and purpose for Randy and he took to it with flair and imagination.
When his marriage ended, he moved to Lee Creek, joining many longtime friends, particularly Ken McIntyre, Evelyn Kury, Rob Van Sprang, Doug Copeland and Maggie Stark. Each helped him weather life on the mountain.
In 1998, Randy learned he was the father of Harmony MacDonald (now Hicks). Earlier this year, Harmony gave birth to Randy’s first grandchild, Logan.
Since his teens, Randy had a volatile relationship with alcohol and drugs. As that relationship soured, he battled substance abuse. It was a difficult fight and although he was victorious on several occasions, his unshakable addictions cut short his life and led to his death from infectious pneumonia.
Randy is also survived by his mother Bev Armstrong; his father Clayton and stepmother Sylvia; his maternal grandmother Isabell Holladay of Magrath and his paternal grandfather Howard Bullick of Coronation. He is also survived by his brothers, Scot (Pam Bulla), Craig (Shirley) and Troy; his sister Terry Bullick (Sean Mahoney); two nieces, Amanda and Ashley; two nephews, Aaron Bullick and James Mahoney.
Those who would like to share their memories of Randy attended a celebration of his life in Lee Creek on Saturday, October 4 at the home of Ken McIntyre and Evelyn Kury. A Memorial Service in Calgary is planned for later in October.
