Caissy - Don Caissy passed away during the early morning hours of January 20, 2002 in the Long Term Care Facility of the Coronation Health Care Complex at the age of 86 years.

Donat (Don) Caissy was born in New Brunswick on March 15, 1915, the fourth eldest of 12 children.

In 1940, at the age of 25, Don enlisted in the army.

It was during that time he spent some time in England.

In 1945 due to personal struggles in his life he was discharged.

Following his discharge he worked as a farmhand and lumberjack. It is believed that Don came to Alberta around 1960.

Prior to being admitted to an institution in 1981 Don had been living in the inner city of Edmonton.

Don moved to Rosehaven in 1984 where he resided until 1995 at which time he moved to our care facility.

As staff, we will always associate Don with the words “Hey, do you have a cigarette?” Or “Hey girlie give me a cigarette.”

We will remember how he loved to have his head completely under the blankets at bedtime.

That was our Donat!

Funeral services for the late Mr. Don Caissy were held in the Coronation Health Care Complex on Tuesday, January 22, 2002 with Pastor Dan MacNaughton officiating.

Interment took place in the Coronation Cemetery.

Should friends desire memorial tributes may be made in Don’s memory to the Coronation Health Care Complex Foundation, Mail Bag 500, Coronation, Ab. TOC 1CO or to a charity of the donor’s choice.
