DANYLYSHEN - Brett Michael Martin Danylyshen of Edmonton, formerly of Veteran and Milden, Saskatchewan, beloved son of Bernie and Bonnie Danylyshen and brother of Nicholas, died at the Royal Alexandra Hospital, Edmonton on Wednesday, October 4,2000. He was 19 years old.

Brett was born in saskatoon, Saskatchewan on June 15, 1981. He lived in Milden, Saskatchewan with his parents and brother until 1993 when the family moved to veteran.

He loved sports of all kinds, especially baseball, volleyball, golf and hockey. He played on many hockey teams from the time he was five years old to the present and made many lifelong friends through sports.

He graduated from Consort School in 1999 and worked for a year at PeBen Industries in Nisku before deciding to go back to school. Brett enrolled in the Business Administration program at NAIT at the time of his sudden death from meningitis.

Predeceased by his Grandpa, Joe Glass of Dysart, Saskatchewan in 1987 and his Gigi, Mike Danylyshen of Rama, Saskatchewan in 1996.

Brett is survived by his parents Bernie and Bonnie Danylyshen of Veteran, his brother, Nicholas of Edmonton; his Baba Joan Danylyshen of Invermay, Saskatchewan; Auntie Judi Danylyshen and Ed Richard and cousin Jordon of Saskatoon, Saskatchewan; Auntie Hope and Gordon Aldred and cousins Royce, Evan and Ashley of Govan, Saskatchewan; Auntie Doris Danylyshen of Saskatoon; Uncle Michael and Anita Danylyshen of Edmonton.

He is also survivied by Great Grandma Marguerite Sonmor of Rosetown, Saskatchewan; Grandma helen Glass of Dysart, Saskatchewan; Auntie Carol and Gord Gray of Saskatoon; cousin Susan and Fraser Shipley and their son William of Saskatoon; and cousin Tracy and Rob Updike and children Jessica, Rebecca and Gregory of Saskatoon; his special love Danielle Gerun of Veteran and many great aunts, great uncles, cousins, as well as numerous other relatives and friends.

A memorial service to celebrate Brett's life was held on Tuesday, October 10, 2000 in the Veteran Full Gospel Church, Veteran, with Pastor Dan MacNaughton officiating.

Special recorded musical selections were played "I Will Remember You" by sarah McLachlan, "The Hockey Song" by Stompin Tom Connors, "I'll Be Missing You" by Puff Daddy and Faith Evans, and "Time Of Your Life" by Green Day.

Tributes to Brett's life were presented by Bernie and Bonnie Danylyshen and Ken Scheffelmaier.

Interment of Brett's cremated remains will take place at a later date in Saskatchewan.

Bernie, Bonnie and Nicholas would appreciate memorial tributes made in Brett's memory to the Canadian Cancer Society, the Canadian Diabetes Society or to a charity of the donor's choice.
