Lamontagne - Maurice Joseph Lamontagne passed away in Coronation, Alberta on September 26, 2008 at the age of 77 years.
Maurice was born December 12, 1930 in Lisieux, Saskatchewan.
He attended school until deciding to stay home and help on the farm in Lisieux then later moving to Alberta south of Castor continuing to farm with his parents.
Maurice began driving trucks soon after coming to the area and in 1960 married his best friend Marion, settled in Coronation and started his own business.
Maurice enjoyed watching his small business grow. In 1995 his son Dennis became his business partner and together they continued to achieve business success.
Maurice was predeceased by his parents Edmond and Laura Lamontagne; brothers Leon and Hector Lamontagne; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law Vic and Lucy Caseley, Tom and Lucy Lenton, Bill and Edie Ley, Edna and Roy Barnard, Hilton and Ina Goulson, brothers-in-law Lucien LaLonde, Fern Lamoureux, Albert, Edwin and Cecil Caseley.
He is lovingly remembered by his wife of 48 years Marion, his daughter Vonda of Calgary, his son Dennis of Coronation; brother Ernie and wife Shirley Lamontagne of Makwa, Saskatchewan; sisters Anita LaLonde of Meadow Lake, Saskatchewan and Edmay Lamoureux of Stettler, Alberta.
Also, sisters-in-law Sadie Caseley of Coronation, Alberta, Jennifer Lamontagne of Meadow Lake, Saskatchewan and Dorothy Brown of Big Valley, Alberta; as well as nieces and nephews throughout BC, Alberta and Saskatchewan, other relatives and a host of friends.
The funeral service to commemorate Maurice’s life took place at the Coronation Community Centre, Coronation, Alberta on Tuesday, September 30, 2008 at 1 p.m. with Pastor Darrel Durksen officiating.
Barbie and Margaret Evans played for the congregational hymns, “I Come To The Garden Alone” and “Amazing Grace”. The eulogy was presented by Val Cornell.
The active pallbearers were Skip Slemp, Dave Glasier, Frank Dummett, Dennis Cornell, Paul Lamontagne, Wes Ley, Russell Watts and Craig Caseley.
Honorary pallbearers were “All Maurice’s Family and Friends”.
A private family interment was held at the Coronation Cemetery; followed with a luncheon prepared and served by the Coronation Oil Wives and friends.
