| Gjertsen - Bjorn Kristian (Kris), June 28, ’30 - July 16, ’08 Kris Gjertsen, beloved husband of Bertha Gjertsen of DeWinton, passed away suddenly on Wednesday, July 16 at age of 78 years. Kris immigrated to Calgary from Bergen, Norway in 1952. He met and married Bertha Rodvang in 1955. Kris and Bertha founded their family business, Kristian Electric Ltd. in 1964, which is still operating successfully today. Kris had many accomplishments being a President of the Electrical Contractors of Calgary (1971/1972 and 1985/1986) and President of the Electrical Contractors of Alberta (1997/1998). He was a member of the Masonic Concord Lodge No. 124, a member of the Alazhar Shrine Clown Unit, the Sons of Norway, and Torske Klubben. Kris will be sadly missed by all who knew him. Besides his loving wife Bertha, Kris is survived by his children and their spouses, Dean and Jennifer, Kevin and Cindy, Wayne and Marian, Randi and Don, and Karna and Mel; 12 grandchildren, Chad, Jessica, Justin, Jerry, Sonja, Claire, Kaila, Laura, Morgan, Mtichell, Caston, and Jace; and three great grandchildren, Hayden, Loa and Jackson. He is also survived by his sister and brother-in-law, Rigmor and Bjorn Boyum; and numerous extended family. He was predeceased by gradnddaughter, Hannah; paretns Olga and Kristian; and two brothers, Egil and John.
