Foy - It is with profound sadness, the family of James “Jim” Mitchell Foy, announces his passing on Friday, May 9, 2008, surrounded by his family after a lengthy battle with cancer.
Jim is survived by his beloved wife and best friend, Kathleen “Kay” Foy.
He also leaves to cherish his memory his daughter, Sharlene (Greg) Lesko and son Charles Foy; three grandchildren, Nicole Lesko, Lance Lesko (Elizabeth Yeast) and Landon Lesko.
He is survived by one brother Bruce (Margaret) Foy; one sister Ruth (Earl) Schmor; his sister-in-law Pat (Earl) Clark of Lacombe and Joan Riley of Coronation.
He was predeceased by his parents Georgina and Charles Foy; and one daughter-in-law Suszanne Foy.
Jim was born on May 23, 1929 in Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan. He was raised on the family farm at Meyronne, Saskatchewan.
His schooling was in Meyronne - where he drove by horse five miles to get to school. Jim learned at an early age to work hard and be responsible.
Jim joined the Bank of Toronto on November 1, 1948 in Meyronne, Saskatchewan. While employed with the bank, he had the opportunity to be located in many different areas early in his career.
In 1954 while in Coronation, he met his future wife Kay and they were married September 5, 1956.
During his 41 year banking career, he had many achievements, two of which included opening two new branches, Peace River and Brooks.
In Peace River he joined the Rotary Club and continued his membership with perfect attendance for 20 years with membership in the Medicine Hat Rotary Club.
He was Past President and was very honoured to receive the “Paul Harris Fellow” on his 70th birthday.
During their years together Jim and Kay enjoyed many happy times at their family cabin, extensive travel throughout the world and RV trips to the U.S. during the winters.
As an avid Tiger fan, they were season ticket holders for over 20 years.
He adored his grandchildren and was very much a part of their lives, attending all the functions over the years.
Jim was an amazing husband, father and grandfather and would do anything for his family.
The family wish to express their gratitude to the Medicine Hat Cancer Clinic and the staff of the Medicine Hat Palliative Care.
The funeral service was held in Fifth Avenue Memorial United Church (476 4th Street SE) on Thursday, May 15, 2008 at 1 p.m. with Gloria Angle and Rev. Leroy Angle officiating.
