Tribute
Thank you all for coming today to celebrate Vicki’s life. It is most apparent that Vicki touched a lot of lives.
I would like to give special thanks to Jim and Colleen with Camrose Acupuncture who gave their time and dedication to help Vicki fight her cancer.
The treatments gave Vicki some hope and energy that she would not of otherwise had. So again on behalf of our family, thank you.
I would also like to pay tribute to my sisters Diane, Betty and Donna and especially Wanda for helping Vicki through her last days and weeks.
I know we are blessed to have a family like ours and I know Vicki was most appreciative and thankful for her family and especially her sisters.
And certainly Vicki’s husband Bruce and her children Trevor, Tanya and Troy and Troy’s wife Grace were by Vicki’s side to comfort her and contribute any way they could.
Vicki told me she was blessed to have three beautiful kids in her life, whom she was very proud of.
Vicki’s strength and courage these last days and weeks was a gift from God and she in turn has given us the strength to go forward in our lives and to face life’s challenges with courage and resolve.
If each take a small piece of Vicki, our journey through this life will be made easier.
Vicki’s sense of humour was present right up to her passing and I recall a story she told me while driving back from Camrose after a treatment.
Vicki indicated that she needed a blood transfusion a while back and that she requested some Jamaican blood because she very much enjoyed music and dancing.
While on the phone with Tanya, she indicated that she thought they gave her First Nation’s blood.
Tanya said, Mom, how do you know? Vicki responded by saying her skin is turning brown! I believe Tanya’s response was Really! Vicki said, Oh Tanya, your such a Chrissy! I believe also our niece Nicole fell for this one as well.
Vicki was a very loving, caring and giving free spirit who tried to enjoy life to the fullest. I never heard Vicki complain or feel sorry for herself or for what life dealt her and she was always there for her friends and family whatever they needed.
She gave of herself freely and without expectation or strings attached. She was a shining and beautiful example of a nice person.
She easily made friends wherever she travelled or moved. Maybe that’s why she moved so much, so she could meet new people and new friends. Boy, did she move!
Vicki we love you and will miss your beautiful smile and laughter. I am very proud that you are my sister and I know that we are a better family today because of your presence.
Diane and I are very thankful that Vicki and Wanda were able to come to our home to enjoy the ocean and the beauty and peacefulness of the west coast. We all had a nice time together.
God we offer Vicki to you to look after. Please give her the love and respect she deserves I know the other angels will be jealous becauce Vicki will soon be a favourite of God’s and has always had success in getting her way.
She will probably want to do some re-decorating, some moving, buying and selling and certainly shopping. God, Heaven will be going through some changes with Vicki there.
Vicki, I know Dad will be waiting for you to love, hold and protect you once again.
I love you, Sis.

Daryl Homan
