BAKER - Evelyn Lillie (Price) Baker, born to Lillie and George Price on June 21, 1922 in Fleet, Alberta, passed away on May 7, 2006 at the Red Deer Regional Hospital at the age of 84, following a lengthy battle with cancer. Evelyn went to school in the Coronation area. She met and married Howard Baker in 1946 after waiting four years for his return from the Army. Evelyn and Howard started married life in Ending, Alberta where Howard was employed as a School Teacher. Their first son, Bryan, was born in 1948 in Castor, Alberta, where Howard had a Vice Principal position. Their second child, Connie, was born in 1951. In 1953, Evelyn and Howard moved their family to Coronation, following on yet another Vice Principal job offer for Howard. Their third child Randy was born in 1961. Later, Evelyn worked for the first time out of the home at the Coronation Hospital. After Howard retired in 1974, they moved again to Lacombe, where they enjoyed retirement and 8 grandchildren to spoil. In 2004, Evelyn and Howard made one last move into Red Deer and gave up their home in Lacombe due to failing health. They made their home at Pipercreek Lodge where they resided until Evelyn’s passing. Leaving to mourn her loss are her Husband of 60 years, Howard Baker, their three children; son Bryan (Louise) Baker; children Susan, Brent, Jolyne; daughter, Connie Dillon and Les Anderson; her children Carly, Tyler, Marlo; son, Randy (Cindy) Baker; children Brenden and Zachary; also 6 great grandchildren. Evelyn’s memory will also be cherished by her sister Helen Neal of Coronation, and brother Murray (Velma) of Lacombe, and their families. Evelyn was predeceased by her sister Adeline Casely of Coronation. Funeral Services were held Thursday, May 11, 2006 at 11 a.m. at Wilson’s Funeral Chapel, 6120 Highway 2A, Lacombe, Alberta. Interment followed in the Castor Cemetery at 4 p.m. If desired, memorial contributions may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society, 4730 A Ross Street, Red Deer, AB. T4N 1X2.
