ACASTER - Clifford John Warren Acaster passed away suddenly at the Ponoka Auction Mart Ponoka, Alberta on Wednesday, August 10 at 63 years, 6 months, 26 days.
Clifford was born on January 15, 1942 in Ruddell, Saskatchewan to George and Agnes Acaster.
Clifford started driving truck and hauling gravel at a very young age. When he came to Alberta he drove for various other companies. Clifford was a used car salesman at McTaggart Motors in Stettler in 1963 and while working there he met Victoria Dummett.
They were married May 17, 1964. He sold machinery at Lindseths in Killam when he was first married.
They moved back to Coronation in 1965, where he bought his first truck and started hauling machinery, cattle and oilfield equipment.
He worked for Ken Anderson and bought Kenny Anderson Trucking in 1965.
In 1971 he formed Cliff’s Stock Transport and in 1984 he bought a farm. In 1985, through a contact of Ron McComish’s he started to haul to Mexico.
These were the best years of his life. He loved the challenges involved even if it was the same road, every trip was different.
Cliff hauled everything and anything. When he started dialysis he had to stop trucking. Then the borders shut down. With the help of his son, Richard he continued to haul a little here and there if he could and his health was up to it.
Clifford loved spending time with his family, raising his quarter horses and of course his passion for trucking, and never will any forget his love for dogs and cats.
His sense of humour and ability to solve the world’s problems will be missed at his home away from home at Brigley’s Coffee Shop.
Clifford’s memory will shine throughout all of those that he touched.
Pastor Wade Hammond officiated at a Memorial Luncheon held at the Lion’s Rec Centre, Coronation, Alberta 7 p.m. on Sunday, August 14, 2005.
Clifford was predeceased by his mother Agnes, father George; mother-in-law Pauline and father-in-law Frank; sisters Sharon and Kathy and sister-in-law Lil Acaster; and one daughter, Hope.
