DURKSEN - Faye Dorraine Durksen was born to Otto and Alice Orvold on September 12, 1932 on the family homestead near Fairy Glen, Saskatchewan.
She attended school in Carrot River, Saskatchewan and completed her High School at Pine Bluff.
Faye moved to Melfort after High School with her family and from there she headed off to Bible School at FGBI in Eston.
It was during her time at Bible School she met and fell in love with Vern Durksen, the man she later pledged her love and commitment to on April 3, 1958, their wedding day.
Faye enjoyed working at the Royal Bank in Melfort and later with the Credit Union where she established herself as a valued contribution to their team.
Life was full and adventurous throughout 46 years of marriage as Faye and Vern sought to build a life together.
Saskatoon, Saskatchewan became their first home, as well as the birthplace of their first son, Glenn.
Melfort, Saskatchewan, Watrous, Saskatchewan, Stettler, Alberta, and Veteran, Alberta were also memorable steps in life’s journey that also included four more children Darrel, Wayne, Lanny, and Sherry.
The purchase and operation of the service station in Veteran and later on the farm near Hemaruka was very much a joint venture, with Faye providing much administration and encouragement.
In March of 1992 Faye began her 12-year battle of cancer.
She experienced many hurdles, but accepted everything that came her way with a courageous spirit, and an unswerving faith in God, fully trusting the ultimate outcome to Him.
In 2002 Faye and Vern retired to Olds, Alberta and it would be there that Faye finally won her battle on December 19, 2004 entering the presence of her Lord and Saviour.
Faye was predeceased by her parents Otto and Alice Orvold.
She is survived by her loving husband Vern; four sons, Glenn and Twyla and their son Brayden, Darrel and Pat and their children Dawn and Darcy, Wayne and Lori and their daughters Chelsea and Shayla, Lanny and Lori; daughter Sherry and Danton Lalonde and their daughters Kierra, Brittany and Ashley; one great granddaughter Mackenzie; her sister Shirley and Ivan; brother Ron; numerous nieces and nephews.
