Brigley - Joy Brigley passed away on Wednesday, January 17, 2001 at the Coronation Hospital at the age of 57 years with family and friends by her side after a very courageous battle with Cancer.

Joy was born at the Coronation Hospital November 24, 1943 to her proud parents Bill and Jessie Lowis.

Joy began taking piano lessons when she was four years of age and complete Grade 9 Royal Conservatory of Music.

She also completed Grade 4 Voice.

She began playing the organ at Church before her feet could reach the pedals and played for the church every Sunday as well as for most weddings and funerals in Coronation and surrounding area.

Joy took all of her schooling in Coronation and was very involved in 4-H.

She completed the works of Grade 3 and 4 with honours in one year and was promoted to Grade 5.

In Grade 9 she received the Governor General Award for her outstanding achievements and graduated from High School in 1961 with honors and went on to attend Henderson Business College in Calgary.

In 1962 Joy married her life partner Mervin.

They resided in Coronation and to this union were born 4 children; Jackie, Dale, Greg and Lori.

She loved her family and rejoiced in their accomplishments and was always there to provide support and guidance in their times of need.

Joy was totally committed to her community.

Besides being a wonderful wife, mother and grandmother she also found time to volunteer on the Fair Board, Library Board, Music Festival and Royal Purple to name only a few.

For over 20 years Joy was a dedicated employee of Coronation School.

Joy loved to bake and her entries took many red ribbons at the Fair. She had a great appreciation for the beauty of flowers and growing things.

Joy was predeceased by her Dad, Bill Lowis, Grandparents Harry and Mary Morris, Mother and Father in law Edna and Russell Brigley and sister in law Pat Brigley.

Joy leaves to mourn her loss her husband Mervin and children, Jackie, Dale (Brenda), Greg (Tammy), Lori (Darren) Eno; six grandchildren, Taylor Rae, Tanner, Brenden, Colten, Alexandra and Nicolas, Mother Jessie Lowis, brother Morris (Mary Jane), sister Mary Lee (Morgan Williams and numerous nieces and nephews along with many, many friends.

Funeral services for Joy were held on January 21, 2001 in Trinity United Church, Coronation, AB with Rev. Russell Rogers officiating.

Granddaughter Taylor Rae Eno played a piano selection and wrote a poem in remembrance of her Grandma:

“My Grandma is in my heart. She is in everyone’s heart and my Grandma, I know, loved me very much. And she loved everyone. I am sure everyone will help my family to cheer us up. Really cheer my Grandpa up. All our flowers are beautiful, Joy.”

Granddaughters Brenda and Tammy Brigley also read a poem.

A tribute was given by Eunice Campion, Shirley McLarty and Janet Zimmer.

Claud and Allan Zinger played and sang “For Bobby (For Baby)” and accompanied Mrs. Linda Osetsky on the organ and Mrs. Marilyn Rogers on the piano for the congregational hymns, “Joyful, Joyful We adore Thee”, “What a friend We Have In Jesus”, “Put Your Hand In The Hand”, “God Will Take Care Of You”, Give To Us Laughter”,

Active pallbearer was Darin Eno and honorary pallbearers are “All of Joy’s family and friends.

Following the funeral services family and friends gathered together in the Elks Community Hall for a time of fellowship and light refreshment prepared and served by the Trinity U.C.W.

Interment will follow at a later date in the Coronation Cemetery.
