| Final deadline set for history book stories and photos | |||
| The absolute final date for families, businesses and organizations to get their story and photos into the next Coronation & District history book is December 31, 2008, it was decided at the September 24 meeting. Anything submitted after that date will not appear in the new book. The committee is looking for all family histories of people who have ever lived in Coronation. They stress that even if theyve only ever spent a few years here, it is still important to be a part of Coronations history by having their story in the book. Whether you just moved in, or you still have contact with someone who had lived here, give them a call and encourage them to submit a story. It doesnt have to be a long story, sometimes only a couple of paragraphs. Guidelines for writing your history: state where and when you were born and raised list brothers and sisters, children, etc.; unless they are submitting a separate story state when the family moved to the area, from where and why, and what they did to earn a living, etc. ladies be sure to add your maiden name mention important family events, community involvement, organizations you and your family members belonged to, important achievements include a photograph of your family Business histories should include: the years the business operated or still operating in the area business owners, past and present, and the business name itself if it changed at any time services provided by the business contributions to the community photos If you have any questions call Shirley at 403-578-3765 To date, the committee has pre sold over 100 books. They also heard from the Treasurer, Marie Woody, that a Community Incentives Program grant for $24,000 had been received, a welcome bit of news. Good work, Pat (Hocking), resounded around the room, as secretary, she did all the work for filling out the application. Twenty suggestions were offered for a name for the history book from community members and the committee narrowed it down to a few and will make the final decision at the next meeting. The committee is leaning towards the Crown and Water Tower as an illustration for the front cover of the book. This will also be decided on at the next meeting. Members involved in laying out the pages will be meeting with Jim Friessen from Friessen Publishers on Thursday, October 2 to receive instruction now that the committee is close to when final layout will begin. |
