Hollywood seems to like Alberta. The wide open spaces seem to be a perfect backdrop for their western movies.
One of the most famous movies is Unforgiven starring Clint Eastwood. This was filmed near High River, south of Calgary.
I have often wondered what happens to the livestock used in filming these movies.
I have had many surprises while going through these old copies of the Coronation Review, but I never thought that finding the answer to that question would be one of them.

Famous horse finds home in Coronation
Coronation music teacher Dan Kinakin and his daughter, Maralee pose with Kinakins horse Clint.
Clint was the horse rode by actor Clint Eastwood in this years Academy Award winning movie Unforgiven.
The movie was filmed near High River, two hours south of Calgary.
Dan purchased the horse from a woman in Turner Valley who in turn had bought Clint from a stock contractor who provides horses for movies filmed in Alberta.
Dan quickly purchased Clint, called Rocket by Eastwood in the movie, commenting If hes good enough for Clint Eastwood, hes good enough for me.
Dan renamed the horse in honour of Eastwood.
I sometimes feel that Hollywood, with all its glitz and glamour is on another planet, far away from everyday life in Alberta.
Finding this little piece of Hollywood right in our own back yard really made my day.
