Where is Elmo and Flo?
by Lois Perepelitz

The Coronation Fair Days have been around for a very long time. Over the years they have changed many times, adding something one year or dropping something else.
All in the hopes of making Fair Days a bigger attraction to bring more people into the town.
Sometimes it worked and sometimes it didn’t.

“The Coronation Fair Board has asked that everyone be reminded that the merchants downtown promotions have been switched from the Tuesday night to Wednesday night of the fair.
“At the request of the Fair Board earlier this spring, the Merchant’s promotions committee agreed to switch their bed races and Midnight Shopping Madness to the Wednesday of the Fair to help insure a larger attendance at the Fair.
“As explained by Fair Board Chairman Ron Bullick, one of the new events will be an Elmo and Flo (Farmer’s Challenge) contest whereby a husband and wife compete together in a number of events.
“Ron describes one of the events as being one where the husband negotiates a garden tractor through an obstacle course blindfolded.
“This is all done under the direction of the wife via walkie talkie.
“This event, as will others, such as bale stacking and possible nail pounding will be in a head to head competition with other couples at the same time.
Along with the regular fair events on Wednesday the bed races will now begin at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday afternoon followed by the tug-a-war and late night shopping.”

What happened to the bed races? They sounded like they were a lot of fun. What about the tug-a-war? Where did Elmo and Flo go?
