Generous acts deserve praise
by Lois Perepelitz

In May of 1989 there was a big fire at the Valley Ski Hill. The Day Lodge was completely destroyed.
Everyone in the surrounding communities started to raise money to help them get back on their feet again.
The Coronation Junior High Students Union didn’t hold back on their generosity either as was illustrated in this article.
June 13, 1989
“Good Cause
“The monies earned by the Junior High Students Union goes to a good cause as President Jaydon McRae presented Linda Osetsky with a cheque for $500 for the Ski Hill.
The Junior High Students Union also donated $300 towards the Jannie Jackson Trust Account; and $500 to the Swimming Pool Fund recently.
The students earn this money through magazine sales and they should be commended for their community support.” Generous acts like that do deserve praise, which they cannot receive if no one knows about them.
It is good to see that someone was thoughtful enough to get this news to The Review.
I often wondered what the students did with the money from all the magazine and candy sales they blitz us with every fall.
Do they still do things like this or have government cutbacks forced them to save the monies for things they need?
