The seventies were not all happy years for Coronation. They were losing more and more of the rail services, and this worried the Town Council, knowing what it would mean to the growth of the town.
There was nothing they could do about the rail services, but when Alberta Power took away their service men, they were going to at least try to fight back.

Town Council Set To Fight Alberta Power
Infuriated by the decision of Alberta Power Ltd. To remove their servicemen from Coronation, Town Council, in a meeting Monday afternoon, decided unanimously in favor of discontinuing Street Lighting to protest the Power Companys action.
At a meeting on Tuesday, March 28 with officials of Alberta Power Company, the two local electrical associations and all the major oil and gas producing companies in this area presented strong beliefs and arguments against Albert Powers decision.
Apparently their arguments fell on deaf ears, as we have been informed by the Power Co. that they will not change their decision.
Town Council wishes at this time to prepare everyone in the Town for a possible blackout to occur soon. At that time they will be seeking your total co-operation in consuming the bare minimum of electrical energy for the duration of Operation Blackout
I never found any report of this blackout actually happening, but if it did I am sure the towns people would have done their best to co-operate.
I was just glad to see that a Town Council had the gumption to at least try to show a big corporation that they were not afraid to stand up and fight for their Town.
