I think one of the best things at a parade is a marching band.
All those people marching in time to the music, all wearing the same sharp uniforms, lead by the majorettes in their short flippy skirts twirling their batons.
Watching a marching band really perks up my spirits. The loud, lively music and those drums, just make a person feel more alive somehow.
At one time Coronation had a fairly large community band.
The band would hold open air concerts in the town, sometimes marching down main street on a Friday evening. Apparently the band was very good, and other towns would book them for their own parades.

Around Town
The Coronation Community Band is presently preparing for the summer program.
A number of appearances are already booked.
June 12th will be the Coronation Stampede. On July 1st they will be participating in the parade and giving a concert at the Alliance Sports Day.
They will be taking part in the Red Deer Exhibition on July 20th, parade in the morning and an afternoon appearance.
August is also going to be a busy month for the local band with their second appearance in the Vermillion Fair on the 15th and the 14th will see them in Stettler for the County Fair and they will be appearing in concert at the Coronation Fair on the 18th.
They sure were a busy group. It took a lot of dedication and a lot of practice and hard work to keep a band of that quality going.
From the pictures I have seen and articles I have read, the Coronation Community Band was something to be proud of.
