With all the country schools getting closed down the Coronation school was getting overcrowded.
They were still using the original two-storey building that had been built in 1912; plus the two-room addition that had been built in 1947.
In March of 1962 they first started planning for the new additions. The plan was to tear down the old brick building and replace it with six new classrooms of modern design and structure.
It took until 1965 to get everything sorted out.
This June 1965 report shows the cost of building in the sixties.

Over 417,000 For School Addition
Excerpts From County of Paintearth Bulletin
Latest sketch plans for the Coronation school addition and renovation were reviewed and showed a total space of 22,815 sq.ft. of which 7,548 sq. ft. would be used for a gymnasium.
Total cost of the new building including architects fees of $4,600 and renovations of $40,172 is estimated to be $417,145 of which all but $53,646 will be covered by Provincial Grants.
Thank goodness for Provincial Grants, they took care of the bulk of the cost; but I am sure the people of the area would have found a way even without them.
