When I first moved here I was surprised at the fairly clear reception I got on my TV without cable or satellite dish. My daughter, Tammy told me something about a tower close by, but since I was getting my dish set up I didnt pay attention.
When I got to this article in 1960, I paid more attention.

Satellite Site Leased On Top Of Nose Hills
The East Central Alberta Television Society announce they have been successful in obtaining the desired property for their tower site.
The property is situated on the highest point at the extreme east end of the Nose Hills and was obtained on lease through the kind co-operation of the Veteran Colony, who are the owners.
It is expected that work will begin on erection of the tower in the very near future.
Getting the tower was only the first step. They then had to get enough subscribers to make it worthwhile for the television stations to broadcast here.
The people got to work on that quickly enough.

Nose Hill Highlights
Mr. and Mrs John Ekrol and Mr. E. Lougheed were callers in the Nose Hill district last week - the occasion being canvassing for TV subscribers.
You can rest assured there are many persons patiently waiting to get TV.
Im sure if there are good TV programs people will buy them. So I suggest that the TV manufacturers petition for better programs if they expect people to buy.
A good TV set without educational, religious and political programs would not be of much value. The shooting programs are unfit for children or teenagers.
Thank goodness they had no idea of the kind of programs that would be available in the future; I am sure that had they known there would have been no satellite tower built.
Its great to see our tree up and decorated again this year. Wow, what a job and so few people to organize and do it! The community appreciates each and every one of you who take the time to volunteer in the community to light the Town up for Christmas!
