When we think of all the things that have been invented throughout the years, the first things we usually think of are the big things like jets, the new cars, television and computers.
Then there are the little things like plastic wrap, scotch tape, iced tea mix and margarine.
You would think that all of these would be welcomed into their lives with great joy; and most of them were. Margarine was one that wasnt.
This article shows how the people viewed margarine in 1924.

Sounding Creaks
The monthly meeting of the Glengile U.F.A. local was held on Saturday last with a very good attendance.
A lively discussion took place re: Oleo margarine and a resolution was passed that the secretary write to our M.P. that this local strongly protests against Margarine and that he do all that is in his power and give all his support to prevent the sale of it in Canada which will mean the downfall of our dairy industry.
I dont think they needed to worry.
I dont believe that they will ever be able to manufacture anything that could beat the taste of butter on fresh corn on the cob, new baby potatoes, a warm biscuit or... well, you can make your own list.
